3D printing SLA Darth Vader Model
Test pressure on the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra – Darth Vader in 12K Details
For our new Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 12K SLA printer we wanted to perform a first test print – and what would suit better than an iconic figure like Darth Vader from Star Wars?
We have opted for a highly detailed model that provides both technical and optical challenges. The figure has a number of fine Details to:
- the textured surface of the suit
- filigree buttons on the chest panel
- complex Overhangs in the cloak and helm area
The model was 10 items divided to allow for optimal alignment in the pressure chamber and to minimize the risk of printing errors due to Overhangs. After printing, the parts were post-processed, cleaned, cured and precisely joined together.
Technical data on the project
- Printer: Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra
- Technology: MSLA (12K resolution)
- Layer height: 50 microns (0.05 mm)
- Model size: approx 40 cm in height
- Total weight (incl. Resin): approx. 835 g
- Print time incl. Finishing & Assembly: about 23 hours
Conclusion
The Test was a success: All the Details were shown in razor-sharp, the fit of the parts was excellent and even delicate structures such as the Texture of the clothes came clearly to the fore. The project is an impressive what a 12K-SLA-printer is capable ofif model processing, printer settings, and post-processing go Hand-in-Hand.
